How we handle your personal data.
Who we are
Blackbear Capital Partners LLP (“Blackbear”, “we”, “us”) is the controller of personal data collected through this website. We are a limited liability partnership registered in England and Wales under number OC403885. You can contact us about this policy at info@blackbearcap.com or at 9th Floor, 101 Wigmore Street, London W1U 1QU. Our ICO registration reference is ZA538726.
What we collect
Enquiry form: if you contact us through the form, we receive the details you enter — your name, company, email address, the nature of your enquiry and your message. The form sends these to us by email; they are not stored in a database on the website.
Server logs: like almost every website, our hosting provider automatically records technical information about requests to the site, including IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the date and time. These logs are used only to keep the site secure and working, and are retained for a limited period by the host.
This website does not use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies, and does not load third-party fonts, maps, videos or social-media widgets.
Why we use it and our lawful basis
We use enquiry details to respond to you and, where you ask us to, to discuss the investment or advisory services you are interested in. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to business enquiries and, where relevant, taking steps at your request before entering into a contract. We also process information where needed to meet legal and regulatory obligations, including anti-money-laundering checks.
We use server-log information on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating a secure website.
We will not add you to any mailing list or send you marketing because you have made an enquiry, unless you separately ask us to.
Who we share it with
We do not sell personal data. We share it only with service providers who process it on our behalf under written contracts — our website host (Krystal Hosting Ltd, UK) and our email provider (Microsoft 365) — and with our professional advisers, or regulators and authorities where the law requires.
Our website is hosted in the United Kingdom. Where a service provider processes data outside the UK, we rely on UK adequacy regulations or approved safeguards such as the International Data Transfer Addendum.
How long we keep it
For enquiries that do not lead to a client relationship, we retain correspondence for 12 months after our last contact and then delete it. For client and transaction correspondence, we retain records for up to six years after the relationship ends. We may retain records for a different period where required by applicable law or where necessary for legal proceedings or a dispute.
Your rights
You have the right to access your personal data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability, subject to the conditions in UK data protection law. To exercise any of these rights, email info@blackbearcap.com. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113), although we would welcome the chance to resolve any concern first.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy if the way we use personal data changes — for example, if we add analytics to the website. The date below shows when it was last updated.
